1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Mistura Dosunmu, a sole trader in the United Kingdom who runs Begin Well ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Begin Well.

You must be 18 or over to use Begin Well.

2. Your account

• Give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date – your calorie goal and plans are worked out from it.
• Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
• One account is for one person.
• You can delete your account at any time: Profile → Delete my account.

3. Health and safety – please read

Begin Well is a general wellness app. It helps you track food, weight, activity and workouts, and gives general guidance. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and nothing in it is medical advice.

Speak to a doctor or qualified health professional before changing how you eat, fasting or starting a new exercise routine if you:

• are pregnant or breastfeeding;
• have diabetes, a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or another medical condition;
• take medicine that affects your appetite, weight or blood sugar;
• have, or have had, an eating disorder;
• are recovering from an injury or surgery.

Calorie goals, meal ideas, fasting plans and workout plans are estimates and suggestions based on general formulas and the information you give. Bodies differ. Listen to your body: stop any activity that causes pain, dizziness or feeling unwell, and seek medical help if you need it. We do not promise any particular result, such as a specific amount of weight loss or muscle gain.

4. Nutrition information

Food information comes from public databases (such as USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts), UK and FAO food composition tables, our own research into typical recipes, and foods created by users. We work hard to make it reliable, but it may not always be exact – recipes, brands and portion sizes vary. Where it matters to you, check the product's label. Foods shared by other users are their own entries and are not checked by us.

5. Workouts

Workout plans are built from a library of standard exercises with written instructions. They are guidance only and do not replace a qualified coach where supervision is needed. You are responsible for:

• warming up, starting with light weights and building up gradually;
• using equipment safely and checking it is in good condition;
• choosing exercises that suit your body, and skipping or swapping any that cause pain.

If you tell us about limitations, the app leaves out exercises that commonly bother those areas. This is general guidance, not a medical assessment.

6. Premium subscriptions

Some features ("Premium") need a paid subscription. When subscriptions launch:

• Prices are shown in the app and the app store before you buy, and may differ by country.
• Payment is taken by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) and is covered by their terms. We never see your card details.
• Free trials: if a free trial is offered, you will be charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
• Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically (monthly or yearly) until you cancel.
• Cancelling: cancel any time in your phone's subscription settings. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. This does not affect your legal rights as a consumer.
• Price changes: we will tell you in advance, and you can cancel before a new price applies.

7. Foods and content you add

You keep ownership of the foods and recipes you create. If you choose to share a food with everyone, you allow us to show it to, and let it be logged by, other Begin Well users (your name is never shown). You can make it private or delete it at any time.

Please only share accurate food information, and nothing that is unlawful, offensive or belongs to someone else. We may remove shared content that breaks these terms.

8. Fair use

Please do not misuse Begin Well – for example, by trying to access other people's information, copying our food database or exercise library in bulk, interfering with how the app works, or using it for anything unlawful.

9. Our app and the information in it

The Begin Well app, its design, its exercise library and written content belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app for your own wellbeing while you follow these terms.

Some food information comes from open sources, which we credit: Open Food Facts (available under the Open Database Licence), USDA FoodData Central, the FAO/INFOODS West African Food Composition Table, and the UK Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (CoFID).

10. Changes to the app and these terms

We keep improving Begin Well, so features may change. We may occasionally need to pause the app for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We may update these terms; if a change is important, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using Begin Well and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and we will tell you why where we can.

12. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit. Your legal rights as a consumer are not affected.

Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for losses caused by your not following the health and safety guidance in these terms. Where the law allows, our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the problem arose.

13. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts.
